It sounds strange but it’s not just coffee and heavy foods that ruin our night sleep

by admin

If there is one thing that makes us particularly nervous and associates them, it is waking up in the morning after a sleepless night. The reasons can be many, but unfortunately they all converge in the same result: a day to forget. We often blame our morning fatigue on the previous night’s heavy dinner or coffee drunk too late. Especially if we are out with friends and can’t say no to the national drink before we go home. It seems strange but it is not just coffee and heavy foods that ruin our night sleep because what can depend on other factors, some absolutely unpredictable. A remedy could also be to defeat morning weakness by taking carbohydrates for breakfast as so many people do.

Beware of environmental insomnia

Experts technically call you “situational or environmental insomnia” and as the term itself says they are due to the environment surrounding the person trying to sleep. They can be momentary, but they can also be permanent. Two very simple examples:

  • the holiday hotel room on the crowded and noisy waterfront or near a nightclub;
  • the rooms of the house too close to the road, in contact with particularly noisy neighbors, in very busy neighborhoods and streets.

And if in the first case, the situation, even if unpleasant, is resolved in a short time, in the second it can become a real problem. Sleeping pills obviously agreed with the doctor and night plugs are the only solutions if we do not have the possibility to move to quieter rooms. But just as if you’re used to keeping your phone on your bedside table, know what you’re getting into.

There are also two other particular insomnia: that due to adaptation and that due to the intake of substances and drugs. In the first case, the classic mattress can also be involved, whether we are on vacation, or maybe we spend the nights out for work reasons. Just as the microclimate of the room, too hot or too cold, could be a trigger of insomnia.

The situation is quite different if we find ourselves taking new drugs or following therapies never done before. At the first signs of this discomfort in sleeping, we immediately notify the doctor or the treating specialist. We may in fact be allergic to certain substances found in medicines. Which can also cause tachycardia, cold sweats and general feelings of malaise. We also remember that we could sleep better with a few drops of this healthy and so underrated aromatic herb.
