Yet there are some foods which, depending on everyone’s conditions and any pathologies, can also be very harmful. For example, among the organs that can suffer from certain foods is the thyroid, a gland located at the base of the neck and which has the task of producing hormones on which the metabolism control.
Precisely to protect this organ essential for the proper functioning of our body, experts warn against taking some nutrients. As dietitian Molly Hembree states, the most common condition is that of hypothyroidism. In this case, the thyroid is functioning less than it should and, among the side effects, is the increase of weight. Precisely for this reason, if you notice that you have accumulated excess pounds for no particular reason, it is a good idea to contact your doctor to ascertain the situation.
If, in fact, the problem was linked to a thyroid hypoactivity, it is better to remove the foods they contain from your table goitrina. It is a compound that, together with an iodine deficiency, can interfere with the synthesis of thyroid hormones. Among the foods to avoid there are broccoli and in general crocifere crudecabbage, cauliflower, soy and millet.
One way to reduce the risks, if you don’t want to give up these ingredients, is to warm them up. By heating the crucifers, in fact, the goitrin is broken down which in this way no longer interferes with the thyroid. On the other hand, in the case of millet it is preferable to completely eliminate it from one’s diet.
In general, then, the advice is to always balance the quantities of the various foods avoiding excesses (especially in the case of fats). In addition, the lifestyle, in addition to food alone, is precious for the health of the thyroid gland.
