Lack of Family Medicine Vacancies in Galicia Blamed on PP Cuts: Ana Pontón

The BNG spokesperson, Ana Pontón, has criticized the PP for the high number of vacant positions in Family Medicine in Galicia, blaming the “cuts” in health for the situation. Out of 207 places offered in the last mir award, 63 have been left unfilled, highlighting the worrying state of primary care. Pontón expressed regret that instead of seeking solutions, the PP insists on calling for more places when not all announced positions are covered. She attributes the lack of interest in the specialty to the precarious working conditions created by the PP, making it unattractive to those studying Medicine. Pontón calls for improved conditions for family doctors and more resources to address the problem, proposing a new model to end precariousness. She also demands that the PP take responsibility for the situation, pointing out the significant funding cuts to Primary Care during their leadership in the Xunta.
