Lanusei, there is no place in Medicine: 86 years old ends up in Pediatrics

by admin

At Nostra Signora della Mercede the inconveniences related to the shortages continue. Elder is provisionally placed in the newborn ward

LANUSEI. In the Pediatric ward of the Lanusei hospital, on which the sword of Damocles of closure still hangs due to the chronic shortage of specialists, the extraordinary circle of life reaches a perfect synthesis. In the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, an elderly patient was “supported” by the hospital assistance service for the little ones. This was decided, given the lack of beds available in Medicine, the health management of Our Lady of Mercy. For this reason, the man, an 86-year-old with internal problems, arrived in Pediatrics in the middle of the night. And there the patient also remained in the morning, waiting to be able to return to his original ward. This story, not particularly serious in itself, nevertheless testifies to the condition in which the Ogliastra hospital finds itself because it is added to a long series of critical issues, apparently not only on the staff front. The emergency at Nostra Signora della Mercede, apart from a few exceptions, concerns the operation of almost all the units. The lack of doctors continues to be the main problem and does not concern only Pediatrics, the Emergency Department or Orthopedics.
