The 3 trilogies in one video game

We had the opportunity to give it a preview, and the first impressions we can get from it are decidedly positive and widely awaited, also because The cross and delight of this saga is that it has kept this formula almost completely unchanged in the years. On the one hand this has created a family environment where fans and parents looking for child-friendly games can play it safe, on the other hand it has made the formula a little overused.

As you can tell from the title, The Skywalker saga covers the entire narrative arc of the 3 trilogies that make up the architrave of everything related to Star Wars, which can be played independently, but always starting from the first chapter of each trilogy. So the first, fourth and seventh. Once the game starts, you are faced with a meticulous reconstruction of jokes, sets and situations present throughout the sagahowever, flanked by a constant and ironic reworking of many scenes, both to polish the more violent aspects and to surprise long-time fans.

The activities available are those typical of these games: sometimes you shoot, sometimes we fight with your bare hands, following a simple combo system, or you proceed moving objects e solving small puzzles, choosing the most suitable character each time. Dozens of them will be encountered and used throughout the game, and each of them has a special ability that makes them somewhat unique, whether they are Jedi or not, not to mention all those that can be unlocked over time. To vary the pace, you will occasionally come across sections of space combat or where you have to ride one of dozens of vehicles and mounts availablewhile at times it will be possible to choose between two roads, just to leave the desire to replay the section and see what the part of the crossroads not chosen offered.

Get lost in easter eggs and hidden areas

Following the story slavishly, the game proceeds swiftly, but as soon as the environment opens up a little, it inevitably makes you want to explore, in search of small puzzles and secret areas to unlock everything you can unlock. In some cases, in fact, the narrative will abandon a tunnel structure to favor larger areas: for example, after the prologue on Tantive IV in the role of Princess Leia and the droids it will be possible to walk a bit through the sandy expanses of Tatooine or explore Mos Eisley, whose alleys hide many easter eggs and special areas. If you want, there are hours and hours of content, characters to unlock and areas to explore, also why The Skywalker saga it is an ambitious project, it wants to be the sum of all that Star Wars has been and best of all the Lego themed games of the past. So you can visit every planet, including the Death Starand use virtually every character that has appeared on the screen, including extras.

And if all this were not enough, just know that it is also possible to unlock special effects that will drastically change the whole atmosphere of the game. There will be a lot of them in the final version, but for now we have only seen the one that turns everything into a musical. The play is identical, but everyone dances as if they are part of a giant Broadway choreography, including Darth Vader. Why should they do it? Because it’s funny, at least according to the developers, but on the other hand we are talking about a title steeped in humor and designed for a mainly young audience. However, even for those who were young a while ago, the moments that warm the heart are many and if you haven’t enjoyed the latest trilogy, maybe playing it like this will be a way to exorcise that disappointment.

Still not enough? In the future there will be additional paid content, dedicated to Solo, The Mandalorian e Rogue Onebut for those we will have to wait for mid-April and then May.

The only note we can make concerns what we said at the beginning: it’s all very beautiful and the graphicsWhile in keeping with the Lego aesthetic, it’s nice with lots of areas packed with stuff to find, but the backbone has been the same for more than 10 years now and for those who know it well they all feel. Perhaps for the next game it is worth thinking about something that is in line with a new generation of consoles, even if the sales will probably prove him right.
