Lenovo Tab M10 Plus 3 tablet, the proof: how are you doing, strengths and weaknesses

Is there still life in the tablet universe? Better: there is still life in the world of tablets beyond the iPad? Is there room for Android, or is the market totally in the hands of Apple?

Waiting for that Google provides an official answer to this question, there are those who have already given their opinion clearly, such as (for example) TCL and above all how Lenovowhich has recently brought the third generation of its Tab M10 Plus to the Italian market. Costa 229 euros in the WiFi version with 4 GB of RAM and 64 of internal memory (subject of this test) and is a tablet in the most classic sense of the term, starting with the 10.6 “screen.

The technical characteristics of the Lenovo Tab M10 Plus

The screen is definitely one of the strengths of the device: it is an IPS LCD that reaches well 2K resolution, sufficiently bright (up to 400 nit), with frames reduced to a minimum and 4 speakers with Dolby Atmos certification. In short: it seemed to us perfect for watching videos on YouTube or streaming movies and TV series on Amazon Prime, Disney Plus or Netflix, which is how we’ve used it most of the time. And that’s how people who buy it are likely to use it.

So or as a tool for to work o studyabove all thanks to the fact that the screen is certified by the TÜV for the reduced emission of blue light and that the Instant Memo app, together with the pen and the cover with tilting base (both sold separately), make it useful not only for leisure.

In all cases, they help the low weight (460 gramsdetected in the test phase) and the battery from 7700 mAh: probably does not last the “12 hours of video playback” promised by the company, but we are close to it and it seemed practically infinite, even with days and days of stand-by. On the other hand, the charging speed offered by the small 10W power supply is really, really low.

Similarly (and here we come to the painful notes) the level of the performance offered by the MediaTek G80 processor reserved for the WiFi version: we found the tablet unresponsive when starting or restarting, when unlocking, even when scrolling from one page to another or when switching from one app to another.

Is it to buy or not?

We are sure that it is Snapdragon 680which can only be had by purchasing the Tab M10 Plus in the LTE variant, is able to guarantee better performance, also because it is combined with 128 GB of internal memory, which certainly give the whole system greater elasticity. It costs 289 euros, but in our opinion it is the preferred version if you want to do something more with this tablet, even from the point of view of productivity.

Otherwise, if the use that will be made of it will be mainly domestic, precisely for watching content around the house, or perhaps as the first tablet for a child, the WiFi version can be fine: it costs around 80 euros. more than a comparable Amazon Fire, but it’s also definitely better, if only for access to the Play Store for apps. Unless you want to go to the other side (Apple’s) and choose an iPad. However, it is necessary to take into account to spend at least 389 euros.
