Dozens of people herded into air-raid shelters in Ukraine. Women, children and the elderly, crammed into narrow places, under that earth’s surface that until yesterday they trampled on like any human being. Walking to work, running to keep fit, jumping to play with friends in the park, walking briskly to take home the groceries and prepare lunch.
