LinkedIn celebrates 10 years in Italy: “We help workers and companies to grow”

by admin

It was 2011 when LinkedIn opened the first office in Italy in Milan. Other times: the platform dedicated to professionals could count on about 100 million members worldwide (only two in our country) e it was used almost exclusively as a dynamic curriculum vitae archive. Since then, things have changed a lot: today the professional service founded by Reid Hoffman in 2002 can count, in Italy, on 16 million users, while globally it has reached 800 million.

Not only that: over the years LinkedIn has transformed into a real social network, which is no longer limited to connecting professionals with each other and with companies, but has become a tool for communication, exchange and sharing of everything related to the world of work. To contribute to this transformation also in Italy were above all the Top Voices (creators officially recognized by the platform) and influencers, including Francesca Bardelli Nonino (Nonino Distillatori), former volleyball champion Giacomo Sintini (Randstad Sport) or Fabio Moioli of Microsoft.

In addition to them, they celebrated the 10th anniversary of LinkedIn Italia at the Pirellone in Milan, in presence or in streaming, also well-known and passionate users such as the CEO of Snam, Marco Alverà, the CEO of Mulan Group, Giada Zhang, the founder of Technogym, Nerio Alessandri, the rector of Bocconi, Gianmario Verona, l ‘CEO of Kiko, Cristina Scocchia, and others.

How LinkedIn has changed in Italy
“The lives of many people and many companies have changed thanks to the opening of our offices in Italy – he told us Marcello Albergoni, who was LinkedIn’s first employee in 2011 and today he is country manager – We did not open an office just to have a representative point, but we used it to transform the way companies search and select professionals or expand all over the world. It’s something I’m very proud of ”.

One of the most important results obtained by LinkedIn Italy is probably the collaboration with the Ministry of Public Administration for the development of the inPA platform, the recruitment portal dedicated to the PA (already online, but being completed), which follows many of the functions of LinkedIn. In the ambitions of Minister Brunetta, inPA will make it possible to quickly and effectively identify the personnel needed to carry out the projects of the NRP.

“It was explicitly the model that inspired us. When you come into contact with something that works, as is the case with LinkedIn, the smartest thing to do is bring it on board, replicating the mechanism also for the Public Administration “, he explained in streaming link. Brunetta, who for the occasion opened a profile on LinkedIn (which for the moment can only count on 64 followers).

Influencers and workaholic risk
The presence of top-level Italian entrepreneurs and now also of institutional figures is certainly a sign of maturity for a social network that, at times, it has been criticized for being the place of work fanatics: of the so-called workaholics, who through the posts promote a toxic model of professional dedication (there are also Twitter account who make a parody of it). ‘different opinion or contribute to the discussion ”.

From this point of view, I am also LinkedIn influencers who unofficially have the task of directing conversations and the type of tone suitable for this social network, publishing quality content and that make people discuss. Today, the role of Top Voices and influencers within the platform has become increasingly important. AND regarding the future? “We want to become even more inclusive and open, with an increasing number of contents in Italian, articles by talented journalists that we group in the news and organizing more training courses with partners – is the conclusion of Albergoni – This is how we aim to offer to members the opportunity to acquire new skills and find new opportunities “.
