It is when you stop running that you start to be afraid. Nightmare 2 by the Swedes of Tarsier Studio comes four years after an unexpected success of the first chapter (three million copies sold). It is a small horror masterpiece, simple and neat, terrifying in its play with nightmares and deep in its desire to be a gloomy and filthy fairy tale. Fans will find high and low citations (from Videodrome to Poltergest) and non-discounted reading plans. Apparently it is a classic puzzle-platform, with a dark atmosphere of Limbo but after a few hours of play you will enter a nightmare from which it will be really difficult to wake up.

What we liked

Its merit is to have the artistic care and symbolism of the settings. The lighting is at the service of the story as well as the sound design. This is why when one comes out of the most excited phase of escape from danger, one can appreciate revealing details of a look at non-trivial horror. Monsters exist, they live as suspended ready to explode with anger and violence as you pass. Little Nightmare 2 is a concentrate of anxiety on a gloomy and hostile fresco. Its beauty is when you stop running away.

What we didn’t like.

In terms of gameplay, Littel Nightmares 2 thrives on ups and downs. Some phases become impatient in their being scholastic. The puzzles are pretty straightforward and the options for the player are also sometimes discounted. The advice is not to be in a hurry to finish it. But stop at the details, the abandoned shoes and the doors that open. If you are looking for a platformer there is better on the market. If you want a horror experience this is perhaps the best of this year.
