From pharmacists to doctors. Pharmacies in Lombardy will deliver influenza and pneumococcal vaccines to general practitioners and pediatricians. Pirellone said it is foreseen by a resolution approved by the Lombardy regional council, on the proposal of the vice president and councilor for welfare, Letizia Moratti.
“In this way – explained Moratti herself – we facilitate the precious work of the family doctor and pediatrician who are not forced to go to the health company, Asst, to get vaccines, with defined and binding opening hours, and in places often far from the doctor’s office. Furthermore, every doctor or pediatrician has the right to collect the vaccines from another pharmacy in Lombardy, even outside his Ats “. The agreement between the region, Federfarma Lombardia and Assofarm Lombardia will last until 31 August 2022 and will be extendable for 12 months.
The expected annual expenditure, Pirellone clarified, “is 400 thousand euros taken from the 2021 budget chapter dedicated to pharmaceuticals”. Vaccines are purchased from Ats and pharmacies will receive 0.30 cents for each vial delivered.
“The agreement – added Letizia Moratti – concerns the more than 3 thousand Lombard pharmacies. As last year, we confirmed these proximity exercises to citizens as a distribution service to general practitioners and pediatricians of the flu vaccine doses, which then will be administered to patients. The goal is to simplify and improve patients’ access to the health system. The Lombard social and health model – concluded the welfare councilor – places the person and his needs at the center, and in the provision of services it involves all subjects, public and private “.
