After the stop of the Mental Health Bonus, the Regions are organizing themselves to provide citizens with free or facilitated psychological assistance
From the new Budget Law 2022, the item relating to the so-called Mental Health Bonus, a fund worth 50 million euros to financially support people in treatment paths with psychologists, psychiatrists, psychoanalysts and psychotherapists. Although the collection of signatures for the reintroduction of support is progressing (HERE it is possible to contribute to the campaign by putting your signature), it does not seem in the government’s plans to make up for the lack of the bonus with alternative supports.
For this reason, the Regions are organizing themselves in providing citizens with vouchers with which to support the costs of a psychological or psychiatric path, as announced by the Lazio Region, or free assistance services, as proposed by the Campania Region. Lombardy too has announced, similarly to Campania, the institution of a new medical figure: the basic psychologist, who will provide free services to all citizens who cannot afford the expense of a private professional. The motion, presented by the councilor of Action Niccolò Carretta, was unanimously approved yesterday by the regional council: now it will be up to the regional council to establish times and methods for carrying out the project.
I am very excited and delighted – the promoter of the initiative wrote on Facebook, Niccolò Carretta. – From today, Lombardy is also starting the path to make psychological support a public health service, which, I hope, will be developed within the new Community Houses provided for by the PNRR.
Soon every Lombard will have to have a territorial, trustworthy, accessible, daily and above all free figure at his disposal in order to access a basic psychological support service.
