‘My goal is a close synergy between research and public health activities’

Rome, June 4 (beraking latest news Salute) – Anna Teresa Palamara is the new director of the Infectious Diseases Department of the Higher Institute of Health. Doctor, graduated from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, Palamara is currently full professor of Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Medicine of the ‘Sapienza’ University of Rome and is president of the College of Italian microbiologists.

My goal – he explained – is to help organize a department that promotes a close synergy between research and public health activities and which, by networking with the other excellences of the country, can offer updated and consolidated knowledge and skills both to face the ‘daily coexistence’ with microorganisms and to be ready to manage any emergencies like the one we have experienced. The conditions are all there – he concluded – and this is demonstrated by the quality of the service that the Institute has rendered and continues to render to the country. Now it is only a question of enhancing that experience, making it grow and turn it to the future “.

“The institution’s vocation in research and in the promotion of public health is a common denominator of most of the study and research paths of Palamara”, the ISS recalls in a note.
