Medical Specialty Allocation Update: 29 Specialties Sold Out in New MIR Assignment Week

A new MIR assignment week has begun with 29 specialties already sold out. The allocation process for specialties is well underway, with many positions already filled in popular fields such as Legal and Forensic Medicine, Rheumatology, Psychiatry, and Hematology. Pulmonology and Medical Oncology have also reached maximum capacity in the latest shifts, joining other specialties that have already closed their vacancies.

As the process continues, some specialties are close to being sold out, with only a few positions remaining. Despite this, there are still 2,577 places to be distributed to future MIRs. The selection process is divided into three shifts, with candidates choosing their specialties based on their order numbers.

In the latest updates, Family and Community Medicine awarded 80 places in the second shift of the eighth day of MIR 2024 allocation. Meanwhile, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is down to only one available place, and Psychiatry is close to reaching its capacity with only 14 places left.

In the second shift of the eighth day, Intensive Medicine and Nephrology have already filled their positions. However, some specialties like Clinical Pharmacology have only awarded one place so far, leaving many vacancies open.

The process is ongoing, with some specialties already more than 50% filled. The most chosen specialty in the first shift was Family and Community Medicine, with many applicants opting for this field. As the allocation continues, it is expected that more specialties will reach full capacity and close their vacancies.
