Medicine Test 2021, 1 out of 5 will pass. But the bill is ‘high’: 100 euros for everyone

The pandemic drives up prices

But, even if compared to other years a gap is opened in the limited number wall, the selection will still be strong. In short, many will see their expectations disappointed. Even those who do not make it, however, in the end to complete the registration to take the test, will have made the payment of the expected contribution (by 2 August). And if in recent years the sum varied from university to university, as early as 2020 – following the Covid pandemic, which forced a different logistical organization including university entrance tests – this cost has almost uniformed in almost all of Italy. Rising: the sum requested by most of the public universities again amounts to 100.00 euros. Bringing – as the analysis carried out by the Skuola.net portal indicates – to a net doubling of the average costs, given that in the years preceding the health emergency the average price was around 50 euros.

The only exception was the University of Turin which chose to ask for ‘only’ 50.00 euros to have the test taken. Other exceptions, but this time upwards, are represented by private universities: the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart has decided to set the cost for access to the test at 160.00 euros; the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University of Milan instead asks for € 200.00; the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome requested 170.00 euros.

Lower costs for health professions

A situation that, apparently, does not only concern doctors: even for Veterinarians, the other great test in the national ranking, most universities ask for 100 euros for registration. On the other hand, the case of the Health Professions is different, which universities organize independently, while always taking into account the indications of the MUR on the structure of the test. According to an analysis by Angelantonio Mastrillo, secretary of the Conference of the Degree Courses of the Health Professions, for access to the selection test for these courses an average of € 55 will be spent, with a cost almost unchanged in all the structures compared to the previous one. Even if, here too, there are cases in which the outlay is greater, such as the € 100 provided by Brescia, Pavia, Varese, Novara, Naples Campania and Salerno just to sit down to take the test. The cheapest? The University of Cagliari with € 23 and Milano Bicocca with € 10.
