Rome, April 13 (beraking latest news Health) – The packaging of the drug is not a negligible element. Both on a practical level – in the management of therapy and in the reduction of errors, by all the actors in the field – and on an emotional and reassuring level with respect to the medicine: for 7 out of 10 patients, in fact, the packaging helps to feel safe manage their therapy adequately. These are some elements that emerge from the Doxapharma survey, promoted by Teva Italia, and conducted on about 400 doctors, pharmacists and patients on the Italian territory, to evaluate the reactions and opinions in the face of the changes that the company has decided to introduce in the packaging graphics. The data and the restyling of the packaging were presented today at the digital talk “Teva for you. When design is at the service of health“, within the 2021 edition of the Fuorisalone.
From the evidence gathered by Doxapharma it emerges that, for the ‘target patient’, the packaging of a medicine plays a truly fundamental role because it allows you to immediately recognize a certain drug. In line with what has been expressed by patients, even 90% of doctors and pharmacists agree in attributing a key role to the graphic elements of the packs, which allows patients to correctly identify, request and take the drug they need, but not only . More than 80% of healthcare professionals also believe that packaging can promote therapeutic adherence and appropriateness of use, both in use at home and in hospital, a considerable aspect considering the consequences in terms not only of public health. but also of sustainability for the National Health Service.
For the hospital pharmacist, in particular, involved in dispensing in the wards or in the preparation of drugs, the help in the correct identification of the drug also means a reduction in the risk of error and waste.
The Teva packaging – the survey highlighted – already recorded an important approval by general practitioners and local pharmacists who assigned it a vote of 8, on a scale from 1 to 10. The new packaging, however, for the 75% of the patients heard are more convincing than the previous ones. The healthcare professionals involved in the research also share the same opinion: for all four targets, in fact, the graphics of the new packs are clearer, more complete and more recognizable.
“Millions of patients in Italy take Teva drugs, so it was essential to start from their needs, together with those of doctors and pharmacists, to develop the design and new graphics of our packages. We are satisfied that everyone considers the new graphics even clearer. , complete and recognizable by providing concrete answers to real needs “, says Umberto Comberiati, Teva Italia Business Unit Head.
Before the survey carried out in Italy by Doxapharma, thanks to the analysis of the results of a research conducted on 4,000 people around the world, Teva was able to investigate the needs of patients and healthcare professionals, which are the basis of the design and creation of the new graphics of the packaging of their drugs.
