Microsoft said on the 15th of this month that current users can use passwordless methods such as fingerprints and other biometric technology Windows Hello, Microsoft Authenticator mobile phone App, FIDO hardware keys, and verification codes sent by SMS or email to log in to their accounts. The services covered include Microsoft 365, Teams, Outlook, OneDrive, Family Safety App and Microsoft Edge.
Microsoft vice president Vasu Jakkal pointed out that this feature will be rolled out to all users in the next few weeks, saying that logging in without a password can largely prevent hackers from using phishing letters or websites to defraud user accounts and secrets. Jakkal also said that at present, nearly 100% of Microsoft employees log in to company accounts without passwords.
