Attention Outlook email users using Windows 11! Foreign media Bleeping Computer reported that Microsoft officials have confirmed that the built-in “search” function of Outlook emails has recently encountered an abnormal problem, and the recently received emails cannot be displayed normally in the mailing list displayed in the search results. The internal investigation is currently underway to investigate the abnormality of the bug.

Due to this abnormal problem, new emails cannot be searched only when the location-based Windows Search service is used to index emails. The affected clients use POP and IMAP. As well as emails accessed by accounts such as offline Exchange, Microsoft 365 and mail accounts connected to Exchange are not affected.

Before the patch update file for this abnormal bug has not been released, Microsoft officially provides a temporary workaround for a temporary solution. It is recommended that users can disable the Windows Search desktop search service and manually change the built-in search filter settings in Outlook to “Automatic” activation type.

Disable Outlook’s Windows Search desktop search service. For details, please refer to Microsoft’s official website for details.
