Microsoft publicly stated: M1 Mac does not support Windows 11

by admin

Microsoft will officially launch the Windows 11 operating system on October 15. Regrettably, a Microsoft spokesperson recently confirmed to The Register that Windows 11 on the Apple M1 processor is an “unsupported solution.”

Parallels Desktop, the most powerful virtual machine software on macOS, once said that the latest Parallels Desktop 17 can perfectly support the latest macOS Monterey and Win10 and the Insider preview version of Windows 11. And also promised that when Windows 11 is officially released to the public, it will also be able to run it.

But last week, there was a “hardware compatibility error” when running Windows 11 through the Parallels Desktop 17 virtual machine on the M1 Mac. Later, Parallels released version 17.0.1 of the software, which seemed to solve this problem.

And The Register wants to know where Parallels has made changes to make Windows 11 run normally. Unfortunately, the company did not explain.

When the foreign media asked Microsoft if it supports running Windows 11 through Parallels on the M1 Mac, they were told that this is not supported. And affirmatively replied that running the operating system directly on the hardware is not supported.

In view of Microsoft’s “no support” position, Parallels Desktop cannot guarantee that similar things will not happen again. This is undoubtedly a huge blow to Apple users who will use Windows in the future.
