The cases related to the Covid outbreak in the Milan gymnasium rise to 14, of which 5 are confirmed as Delta variant, according to the swabs carried out on the staff and gym-goers who had come into contact with the first cases detected. The investigations revealed 2 other Sars-CoV-2 positive people for which sequencing was requested, informs the Ats Metropolitan City of Milan, explaining that “among the 14 positives, the Delta variant was found in 5 cases” first identified in India. Nine samples are still being analyzed by the appointed laboratories.
The Ats continues the contact tracing activity on gym-goers who have come into contact with the new cases identified, who are placed in isolation and sent to perform the control swab. Depending on the evolution of the phenomenon, the gym has declared that it will be closed as a precaution for a week, pending the search for variants on the cases identified and the tracing and execution of the swabs completed.
The next communication from the Ats on the Covid outbreak in question will therefore be issued at the end of the activities, declares the Health Protection Agency, “when it will be possible to compose a stable and definitive picture of what happened”.
