On one aspect, scientists are reaching unanimity: monkeypox is a predominantly sexually transmitted disease. A hypothesis supported by the numbers, as recalled by the director general of the World Health Organization Tedros Ghebreyesus in an editorial on the British Medical Journal : over 95 percent of the infections that occurred in Europe and the United States in the last three months were in fact recorded among MSM, men who have sex with men.
