Montebelluna, ribbon cutting for the new fitness area at the Manin park

The fitness area in the Manin Park was inaugurated today (Friday 27 May): an area reserved for those who love outdoor physical activity in direct connection with nature. A space of about 400 meters set up in the southwest of the park, at an adequate distance from the children’s play area, fully equipped for calisthenics, a free body workout with the support of adequate equipment. The area consists of 8 workstations as well as a large calisthenics castle of about 6-7 meters with tools that allow free body exercises, tractions, jumps, push-ups, movements of the limbs. The added value of the project is that, alongside the traditional workstations in the fitness area, there will also be some dedicated to people with disabilities and people with mobility difficulties. Furthermore, an anti-trauma mat will be placed on the ground which, in addition to preventing the risk of trauma from falls, will allow the growth of the turf in the area below.

The mayor specifies: “This important project worth about 40 thousand euros has three objectives: to increase the offer within the Manin Park, to encourage free motor practice accessible to all and to exploit the most important green area of our city also through a ‘specific outdoor motor activity which, after the restrictions related to the containment of Covid19, is very helpful for those who do not have the opportunity to enjoy a garden at home or in a condominium. The investment therefore comes in a better historical period because it immediately responds to the citizens’ need for practicing physical activity, at no cost ».

The deputy mayor, Claudio Borgia explains: «The installation of these tools and the creation of an area dedicated to outdoor physical activity is a service strongly desired by our citizens. The workstations, in fact, were tested two days ago and already yesterday we recorded a lot of people who were curious to try and experiment with the equipment. I hope and hope that there is respect for this area where the municipality has invested an important sum and I remember that not far away there is a camera that monitors the entrances. I thank the company Non Solo Arredo of Montegrotto Terme (PD) which took care of the setting up and installation of the equipment: in record time, only 45 days, and 15 days in advance, it completed the work. Thanks also to the municipal technicians and to the workers of the Municipality who have created the wooden bulletin boards where the instructions for using the tools are published ».

The councilor for sport, Andrea Marin, continues: «In the last few days the most difficult thing was being able to keep the children and young people away from the area because everyone wanted to try the new tools. Now all workstations are tested and access is free, for everyone. Thanks to this innovative fitness area, Montebelluna continues to invest in environmental and sports culture policies ».

Elzo Severin, councilor for health, comments: «This is not just a fitness area that we are inaugurating, it is a possibility of well-being, an opportunity that we give free to our fellow citizens. The period that has just passed has taught us that physical activity is of great help for the psychophysical well-being of people. With this fitness area we give all our fellow citizens the opportunity to train, outdoors, in a group or individually. In the fitness area, equipment dedicated to people with disabilities and motor difficulties was also installed: the choice was to bring all the stations together in a single area so as to favor social inclusion as much as possible “.
