Mysterious and long-lived, coelacanth can live up to a century

It is nicknamed the “living fossil” because it has existed for 400 million years and has long been thought to have disappeared: the coelacanth, a fish that reaches human size, up to two meters in length and 80 kilograms in weight, was long considered extinct since the Cretaceous era, until a specimen was caught in 1938 in South Africa to the great surprise of naturalists.
