Neutrinos model of scientific collaboration between Italy and China

by admin

The eleventh annual Italy-China meeting was held in Naples, at the Città della Scienza, a week on Science, Technology and Innovation. This is a more than tested initiative, made possible by the bilateral scientific and technological cooperation agreement-program between our Ministry of University and Research and the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology.

Exchange of skills and experience, exchanges of researchers and academics in various strategic fields for the two nations are the qualifying points. The agreement works and produces results, in the form of bilateral agreements in various fields of mutual interest, such as particle and high-energy physics, advanced materials, advanced manufacturing and energy.

Among the good examples of collaboration, which for years now have given results, is the case of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics, which works both in Italy and in China, with its counterpart in the Land of the Dragon, the Ihep, Institute of High Energy Physics.

“The structure of Ihep is very similar to ours, with laboratories and offices distributed throughout the nation, as for Infn, and the purposes are obviously the same”, says Antonio Zoccoli, president of Infn, who spoke about the common activity so far carried out, with a view to a 100% post-pandemic recovery.

It is an excellent example given that the collaboration dates back to 2000 and concerns basic physics studies, such as the study of cosmic rays also from space, the search for elusive dark matter and, especially in this last period and in the near future, even more elusive neutrinos.
