New project for the Stezzano swimming pool: spray park, fitness area, running track and wellness center

Stezzano. News in the air for the Acqualife pool in Stezzano. P&G Investments and Management, leading company in the sector, which also dealt with the construction of the pools used in the Beijing, London, Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo Olympics, presented a project to the Municipality for the renovation, expansion, maintenance and management of the structure of via Cattaneo.

The proposal has a value of 2 million and 850 thousand euros and was advanced through project financing, approved last July by the City Council. It provides for the use of municipal land adjacent to the swimming pool (and already bound to the expansion) which would enlarge the current outdoor park where, in addition to the existing pools and slides, one will be built spray park, that is a large pool dedicated to children and families with water games, cannons, sprays, ride-on structures, showers and waterfalls.

Not only that: there is also room for an outdoor fitness area with facilities for physical activity and muscle strengthening, gym equipment, benches and exercise bikes, one running track, a life path it’s a playground for children.

The health centre which, following the closures due to Covid, has no longer reopened, will come renovated: two new Turkish baths will be added to the spa with its sauna, hot water tubs with hydromassage, thalassotherapy tub, ice cascade, relaxation area and beauty center.

In the project there is also the management of the refreshment area, now closed for years and the change of the name of the entire plant, which it will be called Acquamore. And above all the ordinary and extraordinary maintenance: “The Municipality has already arranged the coverage using 500 thousand euros of regional funds for Covid linked to public works, in addition to 120 thousand euros from our coffers – explains the mayor of Stezzano Simone Tangorra -. However, there are no interventions on the changing rooms and facilities, which would have cost us another 600 thousand euros and which instead will be borne by the new manager “.

The swimming center is currently managed by an investee company of the Municipality, the Piscina Comunale Stezzano, which has been sailing for some time in bad water.
“The investee is the first debtor of the Municipality – explains Tangorra -. He still owes us a backlog of around 800 thousand euros, mainly for concession fees not paid over the years, not counting the negative balance of 2020 for around 600 thousand euros due to the closure due to Covid, net of the 300 thousand withdrawn from special zone funds. red. In practice, in anticipation of a possible liquidation, we must foresee around 1.5 million euros ”.
Among other things, the Municipality still has 4 and a half million of mortgage to pay, which will be paid off in 2034.

In the autumn there will be the race to which anyone can participate by making their offer. The winner is the one who proposes the best conditions starting from the project put up for tender, but the proposer will still have the right of first refusal.
The new manager should therefore take over at the beginning of next year and begin implementing the planned interventions. However, the center will not close to the public as the program of works will take place compatibly with the activities of the swimming pool.

The sole administrator of Piscina Comunale Stezzano Milvo Ferrandi he declares: “Finding partners with seriousness and entrepreneurial ability can solve the situations in which public swimming pools are found. In Stezzano we were able to build a project in a short time, which became project financing, something that in other even more important municipalities they have not been able to do. For this we are very satisfied ”.
