Not just coronavirus: AssoHealth is born, an alliance against alarmism and fake news

by admin

A pact and an alliance for responsible communication on health to prevent alarmism and fake news and to substantiate the value of transparent, ethical and validated information. This is the commitment launched in its debut today by AssoHealth, the first national association that brings together communication agencies specialized in the healthcare sector that operate transparently to promote information guided by science and the principles of scientific dissemination.

The purpose of AssoHealth

AssoHealth aspires to promote health in people’s lives and to create partnerships with all those who, in various capacities and in their respective professional and institutional functions, operate in a complex panorama such as that of health, whose implications are no longer and only limited to health, but – as the Covid pandemic is dramatically demonstrating – they affect the destinies and social and economic behavior of states all over the world. The alliance initiative was launched on Thursday 25 March in the meeting that marked the public debut of AssoHealth. A multi-voiced confrontation that offered Carola Saved, president of the new association and CEO of Havas Life Italia, the opportunity to connect important clinical experts, leaders of trade associations, the manufacturing world and institutions in the healthcare sector. “The healthcare ecosystem needs, especially now, cohesion and support to restart in a fair, proactive way and in sustainable times and ways to be able to instill trust, creating meaningful connections useful for building a future that is more inclusive of the needs of all stakeholders, patients and care givers, ”he said.

Who is part of the association

AssoHealth brings together agencies belonging to international networks and Italian realities, all specialized in communication in the health sector. The founding group has ten brands (CDM Milan division Healthcare, Educom, Energy, Havas Life Italy, Health & Life, Healthware International, MAPCOM Consulting, McCann Health, Ogilvy & Mather, VMLY & Rx), for an aggregate turnover of about 75 million euros and over 300 employees . The Vice-Presidents Alessio Carli (McCann Health) and Lia Treichler (VMLY & Rx) are flanked by the Board of Directors of the new association, while the Treasurer is Paola Lanati (MAPCOM). “We maintain, as in the principles and values expressed by our manifesto, that in the communication of a delicate and primary sector such as health, clarity, scientific bases, competence and a sense of responsibility must always prevail”, explains the president of AssoHealth.

The challenge of responsible communication

«Today, all of us, without exception, are faced with high-impact challenges that have an impact on our health and the imminent future. There are many data, of which too little is still spoken and with little awareness, which if not adequately addressed will soon have a negative impact on the state of health of our country. For a paradoxical effect we are focusing on a very serious problem, mortality linked to Covid, although we are aware that the rebound effects will be even heavier if not managed and communicated today “. The Pact proposal was welcomed by those taking part in the debate, in which Walter Bruno (Humanitas), journalist and popularizer Alessandro Cecchi Paone, Fiorenzo Corti (Fimmg) and Rosanna D’Antona (Europa Donna) took part. .
