What is healthy eating for me? Body? Which food keeps illness away and promotes my health? The answer is: There are as many healthy diets as there are people because: Every person is different. Why? To date, no one can make a general statement about this.

The reason is simple: to date, nutritional science has not provided a single piece of evidence for healthy eating or unhealthy foods – and this branch of research in its current form will never be able to answer these core questions. Because too many limitations do not allow any statements to be made about causal evidence, i.e. real scientific evidence.

Instead, nutritional observational research produces countless correlations in every conceivable direction that only allow conjecture. Ergo, the ecotrophological universal credo is: Nothing precise is known. Nutritional science is like reading a crystal ball, except for hypotheses. Details can be found here, among others.

Conversely, this means: Even for all the well-known better-eater hypes such as low-carb, keto, paleo or intermittent fasting, there is no scientific proof of “health superiority” – science does not know which form of nutrition is the best and that means it too not a coach or influencer. Only your own body knows which diet is the healthiest for you personally.

However, physical (and therefore also mental) health is only one of the two relevant levels that are now considered and personally assessed when it comes to the right individual diet. If it were all about that, we could simply say: I only eat what I feel like and what I like! Complete! But we can and should eat more thoughtfully and wisely – because our bodies taste neither animal suffering and narrow stables nor exploitation and environmental destruction or long transport routes.

This means that my food should not only taste good to me, but at the same time I also need a good feeling, a “clear conscience”, I have to feel “holistically satisfied” – because it can only be fully enjoyed if you are completely with it feels good about his decision, his thinking and his actions. What does that mean specifically?

Synchronization of ethics & intuition!

Can I be responsible and do I want animals to die and be slaughtered for my food? Then I also eat meat. Can I cope with factory farming? Then I can also eat cheap category 4 meat.

If I don’t feel comfortable with all of this, then vegetarian food is probably better for me from a holistic perspective. Or the compromise between “body & mind” looks like this: I actually don’t want animals to die for me. But since I love eating meat so much, I want to buy at least the best that I can: meat from organic animal breeding, from the region, from a farm I trust.

This is just an example, even if it is “tricky” with organic products and vegetarians have to think twice about the fate of the calves when it comes to organic milk and cheese. You should do the same with all other foods:

Do I need tropical fruits from overseas in winter that have been carefully treated and transported thousands of kilometers? Do I generally prefer to buy fruit and vegetables from the region instead of from greenhouses from all over the world? Does it have to be organic if the organic potatoes come from Egypt or Israel? Do I really have to eat gummy bears that contain gelatine from pig slaughterhouse waste? Do I need ready-made spritzers with added vitamins and flavors or do I just buy pure water & 100 percent juice and mix it myself?

The goal: reconcile enjoyment and conscience!

These are just a few questions, simply to show by way of example what it’s about: What do I personally feel most comfortable with within my ethical compass in order to select exactly those “value-compatible categories” from the ultra-wide spectrum of foods and meals that best fit my intuitive Diet fit?

All of these questions and behaviors serve one core relevant meta-goal: How do I best balance enjoyment and conscience?

There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question, there are no rules, no coaches and certainly no influencers to guide you there – you are the only capable and competent navigator who will get you there yourself. Your task is to get to know your body really well in order to then satisfy your intuitive needs holistically by navigating yourself to the “right shelf” with your ethical compass – then ethics and intuition merge into the “Ethuition“.

Practice makes perfect ethuition!

This requires practice, self-reflection, clarity and rigor in thinking, feeling and acting – and of course it also involves overcoming and compromising. For example, if you treat yourself to a “late night kebab with everything” after a night of partying, simply because your physical needs completely dominate in this case and your ethics sleep well because they didn’t join in the partying. Occasionally going over or off the rails, occasionally leaving the “path of virtue”, that can, may and must happen sometimes, because it is part of being human. Nobody is perfect. But everyone is responsible for themselves and their actions. And you should not only stand by this responsibility, but also have the standing to show others where you stand and what you feel responsible for. In this sense: Go your way! And it’s very easy.

Practical implementation in two stages

The everyday implementation of “Ethuition” in real life is very simple and consists of two stages – the order can be interchanged, depending on what you are more comfortable with. First, the food is pre-selected based on your ethics, your inner value compass (see above): Which product categories are generally suitable for me? So for example meat shelf: yes/no and if yes, only organic or doesn’t matter?

Cheese range: only organic, only German, only regional…

Bakeries: Only whole grain, only rye & spelled, all varieties, only organic… you make this “pre-selection” for all product categories until after a short time they become second nature to you – that is, you don’t think about it anymore. but automatically knows which “shelves” are the right ones.

Then, in stage 2, you intuitively select the foods that you like and enjoy eating based on your mood, mood and good taste – and which you can buy and enjoy with a clear conscience based on your “ethical pre-selection”. You should definitely ignore all the pseudo-knowledge about healthy eating as well as the tips from nutrition experts and completely exclude the Nutri-Score – your body doesn’t need any of that, it just interferes with the free, authentic, intuitive and therefore correct choice within Your values ​​guardrails. It’s quite simple, isn’t it?
