Oncologists and patients together to improve cancer treatment

“We oncologists exist because there are patients: the center of everything is the patients”. Speaking is Saverio Cinieri, the new national president of the Italian Association of Medical Oncology. Who, for his mandate for the next two years, underlines the importance of collaborating with patient associations: “Alone we are a group of scientists and clinicians doing studies. With patient associations we can create critical mass towards drug institutions and regulatory agencies. All together for the ultimate goal, which is disease control, chronicity or recovery. We need to make this collaboration structural. Italy is the homeland of world oncology and we must never forget this ”.
