OnePlus 9. Here is the new model of the former startup that wanted to revolutionize smartphones

by admin

Oneplus, the former startup that in 2013 had been talked about with a smartphone with high-level features and an incredibly low price, presents its latest model. The ninth, if we exclude the intermediate versions. Or rather, it presents two as is now customary, which in their turn are available in as many variants. So here are the Oneplus 9 and Oneplus 9 Pro, 5G phones as usual very fast as is traditional for the Chinese house and this time equipped with a multiple camera optimized by the Swedish Hasselblad.

Beautiful design and for once beautiful also the rear camera body, with the early twentieth century logo of Hasselblad itself and the two main lenses edged with metal rings. The four sensors are, on the 9 Pro, 50, 48, 8 and two megapixels, plus the front one for 16 megapixel selfies. While on the 9 it lacks the 30x optical zoom with its 8 megapixel sensor. In fact, it proves to be an excellent camera, capable of recording videos in 4K, even if there is better on the market both in terms of quality and sensor width.

The main camera is the 48 megapixel one and is equipped with a sensor made by Sony called Imx789. It offers faster focusing speed, four times more color information, cleaner day and night shots, and less blur in videos than ever before. It is flanked by a 50 megapixel ultra-wide lens always with Sony sensor, this time the Imx766, which guarantees good quality photos even with low light.

The 8-megapixel telephoto lens has an optical stabilized 3.3x zoom with up to 30x digital zoom. On the 9 Pro there is also the monochrome camera that works together with the main one to add details to black and white photos and the ā€œtilt-shiftā€ function that simulates the special miniature effect.

Really nice is the 6,7 oled screen, curved on the edges, which has a resolution of 1440 by 3216 pixels (Qhd +), a refresh rate of 120Hz and a high brightness of 1300 nits which comes in handy with videos or games that exploit the hdr 10. In a somewhat pompous way they called it ā€œFluid Display 2.0ā€ to underline that it is a screen that uses a series of advanced technologies starting with an even more immediate touch response. The refresh rate from 120Hz down to 1Hz automatically adjusts to suit the use of the moment significantly lower power consumption. It has 10-bit native color depth, Hdr10 +, Memc, and a host of other trappings that OnePlus says offer superior performance to leading professional monitors.

Everything is managed by the Snapdragon 888 processor, today the best in circulation. While the memory goes from 8 to 12Gb according to the two versions of both models, as well as the storage space goes from 128Gb to 256Gb. Added to this is the fast, wireless charging and the 4500 mAh battery. From this as from other points of view it is identical to the twin Find X 3 Pro 5G of Oppo, which like OnePlus belongs to the giant Bkk. Some aspects change between the two phones, the type of screen and some of the camera sensors and consequently also certain functions, for example the Oppo does not have the tilt-shift effect but a surprising “microscope” mode that really allows you to photographing the infinitely small like the texture of a fabric.

The most difficult year of smartphones. Samsung and Huawei collapse, Apple holds, Xiaomi celebrates

Prices are lower than last year, a sign that the Apple-style hangover is over and it has become clear that proposing smartphones over a thousand euros is foolish from all points of view. But this does not mean that OnePlus is back to being what it once was also because it is now another company. One of the two founders, Carl Pei, she went away leaving Pete Lau just driving.

In detail, the OnePlus 9 starts from 719 euros in the 8Gb version of ram 128GB of storage space at the price of 719 euros, to reach 819 euros for the 12Gb version of ram and 256Gb of space. The OnePlus 9 Pro instead starts from 919 euros (8Gb and 128Gb) to touch 999 euros in the most powerful version (12Gb and 256Gb). Broadly in line with what the competition offers, except for some Xiaomi models with even superior characteristics. It must be said, however, that the 9 Pro in its more powerful version than others, starting with the Galaxy S21 Ultra, has a significantly better relationship between features and cost although on some fronts it does not reach the same heights.

Four colors for each one that, as usual in the smartphone world, have unlikely names: Winter or Morning Mist, Pine Green, Astral or Stellar Black, Arctic Sky. In short, gray, green, black and white.
