The numbers come from the research carried out by the Digital Innovation Observatories of the Politecnico di Milano: B2c product ecommerce in Italy reaches 34 billion euros (+ 10% compared to 2021). And in this case, the food sector shows a + 17%, the furniture sector a + 14%. Positive also clothing (+ 10%) and beauty (+ 8%).

“Growth in absolute value – explain the researchers – back to pre-pandemic levels: after the acceleration of the last two years (+8 billion in 2020 and +5 billion in 2021), online in 2022 is growing by “only” 3 billion euros. This increase, albeit reduced, allows the product eCommerce to gain another percentage point of penetration: the incidence of online consumption on total consumption in fact goes from 10% in 2021 to 11% in 2022“.
The attention of online retailers is aimed at optimizing processes, not only in an omnichannel key, and at experimenting with solutions capable of satisfying new consumption trends.
