Over 280 hours: new world record for self-driving cars

by admin

Everything is ready for the Indy Autonomous Challenge (the first head-to-head race in the world for high-speed cars with autonomous driving and internal combustion engine) which will take place on 7 January at the Motor Speedway in Las Vegas. The key event for Ces, which begins in the name of an Italian team as E-Novia – PoliMove set the absolute speed record: 175.96 mph (over 280 km / h) recorded on January 4th during the tests officers. Thus the single-seater – indeed it would be better to rename it “zeroposto” – of the Italian team is today the fastest unmanned car in the world.

In Indianapolis the first competition in the world reserved for self-driving cars

by Vincenzo Borgomeo

A nice premise for next Friday’s race where 9 teams will compete with fully autonomous and endothermic engine cars of the Formula Indy, the Dallara AV-21. It is the second race after the one last October at the Indy Autonomous Challenge held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. But that was a time trial race for the fastest lap, this will be a real race, with the cars competing side by side. A complexity never experienced before for this type of self-driving car: they will have to move around the circuit at high speeds, avoiding collisions and adopting strategies and actions in extremely short times.

“The results achieved in a competition that involves excellence from all over the world – explained Vincenzo Russi, Co-Founder and CEO of e-Novia – confirm the innovation capacity of the country and its polytechnic talents also in the development of autonomous driving capable of defining new standards and solutions that will contribute to the profound changes in industry and mobility. An industrial challenge capable of responding to the need for sustainable mobility on a global scale. E-Novia’s vehicular robotics solutions are created using engineers, technologies and an industrial ecosystem that shows excellence in this sector as well. “
