Phones, computers and courses: the first Google Store opens in New York

It has somewhat followed Apple’s trail in regards to the privacy of those who use its services and devices, and will somewhat follow Cupertino’s rivals in the real world as well.

Google announced with a post on its official blog the upcoming inauguration of its first, real store: it will open by the summer in New York, in the Chelsea neighborhood, where the offices of Big G (which are at number 111 of the ‘Eighth Avenue): inside, customers will be able to look, try and obviously buy phones from the Pixel range, smart devices from the Nest family, Fitbit and even the very rare Pixelbooks, laptops with Google’s operating system; all these products can also be ordered online and then picked up in the shop.

As already happens in competing points of sale, even in the Google Store you will probably also be able to buy merchandising, receive technical assistance, be helped in the configuration of the devices, ask for a repair and participate in refresher courses on various topics related to the world of technology.

Beware of the coronavirus and look to the future
Considering the period we are going through, the opening of a new store is certainly a positive sign (and the same goes for the new Apple Store coming to Rome). But precisely considering the period we are going through, Google has already made it known that it will pay particular attention to health safety: within the store, masks and spacing will be required and hand sanitization will be required and the number of people who will be able to enter simultaneously; in addition, “the shop will be sanitized several times a day”.

In the past, Google has opened a few temporary pop-up stores in various parts of the world, but so far the only place to physically buy its products was the headquarters in Mountain View, California (photo): the company has not announced. plans for future openings, but if the New York outlet is successful and rallies, it is likely that others will follow, perhaps even outside the United States.
