We find it in sweets, candies, chewing gums, sweet spreads, sauces but also toothpastes, drugs and cosmetics. It is titanium dioxide, an additive on which a ‘sentence’ arrived a few days ago by EFSA, the European Food Safety Authority which, based on new studies and scientific data available, has concluded that it cannot no longer be considered safe as a food additive.
