“Pokémon Crystal Diamond/Bright Pearl”-introduce you to the most interesting additions and improvements! Trailer-Gamereactor-Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl

by admin

From expected (commodity and trading cards) to truly bizarre (Katy Perry music video and Post Malone concert), The Pokémon Company has been busy celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Pokémon series throughout the year. Now it’s finally time for “Pokémon Crystal Diamond/Bright Pearl” and “Pokémon Legend Arceus” to be released next month and early next year, respectively.

Usually, the developer of this series, Game Freak, is busy preparing for “Pokémon Legend Arceus”. The remake version of the fourth-generation game was handed over to ILCA. This is the first time the main article has not been led by the original author. Obviously, this has made many fans curious and perhaps a little worried, so when we had the opportunity to learn more about the game at a recent exhibition, we were very happy.

Here are the most important things you need to know when the game is released.

The visual effects are mixed
When “Pokémon Crystal Diamond/Bright Pearl” was officially released in February, the graphic style received mixed reviews. Instead of using the same (relatively) more detailed style as the latest chapter, the developers chose the so-called Q version style, which has a charming but smaller and less detailed character model. The most obvious comparison is probably the remake of The Legend of Zelda, where the original terrain has been carefully recreated, just like in that game, which means that block textures are placed along the grid.

Lovely art style may not appeal to everyone. But after seeing more gameplay and a new batch of screenshots, we are more convinced. Realistic lighting effects and reflections bring some much-needed vitality to the blocky world, and after further inspection, the texture has quite a lot of detail. Different weather effects also bring the environment to life; unfortunately, when asked if these are dynamic, the developer did not comment, which may mean that they are not.

At first glance, the battle looks even more impressive. When fighting the trainer and Pokémon, the model is more detailed and consistent with the new work. The visual contrast between exploration and combat is refreshing, similar to the original game and even classic games such as Final Fantasy VII. Unfortunately, the actual action was not so intense. The game contains more than 450 kinds of Pokémon, and creating unique animations for each Pokémon can be very time-consuming. Nevertheless, it is time for us to get something else, not just a sad morning exercise through attack.

The most interesting additions are hidden underground
With similar graphic styles and the same story (not so memorable at the beginning), “Pokémon Crystal Diamond/Bright Pearl” did not do much to distinguish itself from the original. But below the surface, there are some surprises waiting. The huge network of underground tunnels named “underground caves” provides various activities, such as excavation mini-games and the opportunity to create your own secret hideout.

These features are also present in the original version, but the most exciting content is brand new. “Pokémon Secret Nest” is a large open cave, each cave has a unique ecosystem. In this, you can explore dense jungles, deserts, volcanic caves, etc., looking for unique Pokémon that cannot be captured anywhere else. These biomes are distinguished from the main game because they are not arranged in an orderly grid; on the contrary, rocks, trees, and other elements are placed naturally. Since Pokémon is not hiding in tall grass, but wandering around freely, this reminds us of the many open areas introduced in “Pokémon Sword/Shield”, and we can’t wait to explore these places.

You can finally explore with your friends
Not surprisingly, compared with the original “Diamond/Pearl”, online features have been expanded and simplified. This is the first game in this series to introduce online play. As the central hub, the Union Room allows you to choose whether you want to fight with friends in a local lobby (via Bluetooth) using connected cables as in the past, or in a global waiting room (via Wi-Fi) with people from all over the world Of trainers duel and trade. The local lobby is a particularly popular feature, because not many Switch games really take advantage of the Bluetooth capabilities of this game console.

If you grew up watching anime, you may have dreamed of starting a Pokémon tour with your friends. “Pokémon Crystal Diamond/Bright Pearl” finally makes your dream come true, albeit in some limited ways. Co-op can only be used in underground tunnels. There are no unique activities designed for multiplayer games, and it seems a bit funny to see several almost identical trainers on the screen at the same time. Nevertheless, this is still a very interesting step for the series, and I hope it can be further developed in future works.

Fighting is not everything

In the world of Pokémon, not everything revolves around combat and exploration, although some early games did make it seem so. When “Diamond/Pearl” was released, additional side events were added to make the world feel more lively, and these were expanded in the remake. For example, you can choose to take up to 6 Pokémon to stroll in the comfortable Amity Square, where neither a dog leash nor a poke ball is needed.

The more substantial side events also include beauty contests. Here, the cutest Pokémon shows their movements, rated according to their costumes, attacks and dances-the latter can even be played as a simple rhythm game. Although compared with similar games in the original, the gameplay has not changed much, but from a visual point of view, it is completely in a different type, with many colorful effects and more vivid animations. As a nice little bonus, players can now use different stickers to decorate the poke ball, which will produce different effects when the Pokémon is released.

There are many small adjustments

A lot has happened in the 15 years since the original game was released, and ILLC has kept up with the rush of the times by including many quality of life improvements. First, the HM abilities that allow you to overcome obstacles and navigate the world are easy to assess, and they no longer permanently occupy one of Pokémon’s precious mobile slots. Instead, these are now stored in Poco watches, a multifunctional digital watch that could be accessed through the DS touch screen in the past. Now you only need to press a button to display it. It is a nostalgic joy to see the return of Pokemon in the era of smart phones, even though the illusion of the LCD display is ruined by some detailed wizards. Speaking of small details, the learning device is now enabled by default and cannot be turned off. In addition, the move learner has once again become a disposable item, which may annoy some people.

But as an ornament, of course it is still very popular, and now you can let a Pokémon follow you. The liberated Pokémon even moves in a realistic way. When you stand still, it will slightly fall behind and catch up. Some content was deleted. Game City, the function that used to allow you to play slot machines to get prizes is gone-probably to comply with the latest PEGI regulations.

Finally, if you have been hoping to see content from the upgraded “Pokémon Platinum”, you are out of luck. When asked about this, the ILCA-representative reiterated: “This is just a remake of “Diamond/Pearl”.”
