Reno6 and Reno6 Pro are the new smartphones from Oppo

by admin

The smartphone family Oppo Reno reaches the sixth generation with Reno6 and Reno6 Pro. Introduced in June in China, they were also officially presented in an international version (with few changes) during a special event without an audience held at the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris.

I due smartphone, priced at € 499.99 and € 799.99 respectively, are positioned in the medium and medium-high range of the market. It is the segment in which Oppo, after arriving in Europe in 2018, has managed to better affirm the value of the brand, thanks to a good positioning and the relationship between the features offered and the price of the devices.

“The new Oppo Reno series is part of a very positive context for the brand – he explained to us Isabella Lazzini, chief marketing officer of Oppo Italia – In July we reached 13.2% of market share in Italy (Gfk data, ed): it is the best result ever and our country is leading the way for the European market. The transition from the generic group of the Other Producers to the double-digit share is a very important moment for us. And in the range between 350 and 600 euros that of the new Reno6, in July we reached 18% ”.

Different twins
If they share the name and the presence of 5G connectivity, the two new Reno6 and Reno6 Pro, however, differ in design, size and technical characteristics. On the flagship model, Oppo used a processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 Octa Core, while on the Reno6 it relied on a MediaTek Dimensity 900. On both models there is an interesting feature that allows you to expand the Ram through the software, adding Gb borrowed in some way from solid state memory. It is used to improve the performance of games, or graphics and video editing software. Thanks to the expansion of the Ram, the 8 Gb of the Reno 6 can reach 11 total, while on the Reno6 Pro it is possible to add up to 7 Gb of virtual Ram to the 12 of the physical one. The performance, however, inevitably varies between the two smartphones, since on the base model the internal memory and UFS 2.1 (with slower transfer speeds), while on the Pro model there is UFS 3.1 memory (with better performance).

Design and features
The design of the two new products is not surprising. The Reno6 Pro closely resembles the Find X3 Neo, while the Reno6 has lines clearly inspired by those of the iPhone 12. A lack of originality which Oppo however makes up for with the implementation of the latest version of Oppo Glow on Reno6 Pro, a special chromatic finish that reproduces the reflections of snowflakes. The shell is smooth to the touch and bright, thanks to the refractions generated when it is hit by light.

For the rest, the main difference between the two smartphones is weight and size: the Reno6, thanks to the more angular design and the screen without curved edges, appears thin and light (the thickness is 7.59 mm). It weighs 182 grams and has one 6.43 “Amoled screen. On the Pro model, the display reaches 6.55 ”and so on thickness grows to 7.99 mm, but the weight is not exaggerated anyway: 188 grams, despite a 4500 mAh battery.

Both models they don’t have wireless battery charging, but on the other hand, they integrate the 65W SuperVooc system, thanks to which 30 minutes are enough to recharge the smartphone up to 100%.

The AI that helps videos
For the two new models of the Reno family, Oppo has focused heavily on video quality, with new features and effects assisted by artificial intelligence. Among these stands out the Bokeh Flair Portrait Video, an effect that also brings the blur of photographic portrait mode to movies. It is a feature also expected for the new iPhones and which we expect to gradually arrive on other Android smartphones over the next few months: we will try it in the coming weeks and we will tell how it works in a more detailed review of the Reno6 Pro model. The Ai Higlight Video function, present on both models, also uses artificial intelligence to improve the quality of the shots, in this case by detecting the ambient light and adjusting the white balance and color rendering accordingly.

Oppo Reno6 Pro features a quad rear camera with a 50 Mp main sensor (it’s a Sony IMX766), a 16 Mp ultra-wide angle, a 13 Mp telephoto lens and a 2 Mp macro lens. Thanks to the pixel aggregation function, the main sensor is capable of shooting images up to 108 Mp. On Reno6 the cameras are instead 3: a main sensor of 64, an ultra-wide angle of 8 and also here a 2 Mp macro lens.
