A humanoid robot that does not intend to replace man in the workplace, but wants to support him and help him in the most dangerous and tiring activities. Is called RoBee and it is the first example Made in Italy designed to ensure greater safety for company personnel engaged in repetitive and risky tasks, in industrial environments as well as in healthcare facilities. Developed by the Oversonic Robotics, a company based in Besana Brianza, is equipped with autonomy of movement and cognitive intelligence, as well as a system of arms, hands and mechanical grippers that allow him to effectively perform simple gestures such as pointing, counting, or grabbing objects. In addition, it is also able to collaborate with other robots to perform a common task. It took three years of processing and experimentation, but now RoBee should officially arrive on the market starting in 2022.
More specifically, the robot is one meter and seventy tall, and weighs between 65 and 75 kilograms (depending on the configuration of use). The machine aesthetically and operationally replicates the mechanical structure of the human body, with 40 movable joints and a complete set of sensors that allow it to autonomously see and navigate the surrounding space. Through a complex system of cameras and sensors, RoBee is able to move easily and safely share crowded spaces.
The vision system, assisted byartificial intelligenceit also allows him to recognize and distinguish people, assuming the most appropriate behavior according to who is in front of him. RoBee is also autonomous in terms of linguistic interaction, since it is able to speak, learn, memorize information and share it. As the company’s technical data sheet clarifies, the robot can perform precise face profiling and activate different levels of interaction autonomously: “For example, it recognizes an administrator and automatically activates the functionality profile linked to the person, different from a public profile “, reads the document.
The machine works with a battery that has an autonomy of eight hours and thanks to a system managed by three powerful computers inside the machine. “A cloud ecosystem provides control interfaces and allows you to monitor updates in real time on the level of use of each component, thus drastically reducing downtime and possible malfunctions “, explains Fabio Puglia, president and founder of Oversonic Robotics.
