Samsung has set a goal to ship more than 15 million Galaxy Z Fold 4/Z Flip 4 folding screens

According to SamMobile, Samsung’s fourth-generation foldable smartphone may ship twice as many as its third-generation smartphone. According to reports, the company has set a target of 15 million folding screen mobile phone shipments for the Galaxy ZFold4 and ZFlip4.

The two flagship phones with folding screens are expected to be unveiled in August and go on sale later in the same month. Samsung hasn’t officially confirmed a date yet, but rumor has it that the launch will take place on August 10, and the phone will go on sale in select markets on August 26.

Samsung hopes to ship 15 million Galaxy ZFlip4 and ZFold4 units in total. Not only is the company aiming to double shipments of previous-generation foldable-screen devices, but it also expects the ZFold and ZFlip to be flat as a percentage of overall shipments, with the ZFold4 outselling the ZFlip4.

In the first quarter of 2022, the global folding screen mobile phone market shipments reached 2.22 million units, a year-on-year increase of 571%. The Samsung ZFlip3 has a 51% market share, while the Galaxy ZFold3 has a 20% share.

The price of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is expected to be lower, so as to attract more customers to buy folding screen phones.

The latest reports suggest that Samsung has increased its reliance on a company to supply parts. That could help its foldable-screen phones become more affordable.
