Sara Pedri: already heard 33 midwives of Santa Chiara with protected hearings

by admin

“I consider it a priority to await the results of the commission of inquiry set up ad hoc by the health company, which should soon conclude its work before setting up further commissions”, but “I still reserve further formal steps at the conclusion of the work of the same”. This is the response of Stefania Segnana, councilor for health of the Province of Trento, to the question of the councilor Pd Sara Ferrari, who had asked for the establishment of an independent commission from the health authority in relation to the disappearance of Sara Pedri and the working conditions in the department of Gynecology and Obstetrics of the Santa Chiara hospital in Trento, where the doctor worked. The internal commission of the company has currently heard 33 employees including doctors, coordinators of nursing and obstetric staff and department secretaries, out of a total of 161 people working in the operational unit.

The disappearance of Sara

Since 4 March there has been no more news of the gynecologist from Forlì who worked at Santa Chiara and who a few days ago would have celebrated her 32nd birthday. Immediately before disappearing into thin air, the young doctor had submitted her resignation, even though she had recently been transferred to Cles, where she had settled last November. Sara’s car was found near the Mostizzolo bridge over the Noce stream, with her mobile phone inside, but the girl, after almost four months and despite a massive use of men and technologies in research operations, is not there. it’s no trace. Meanwhile, the Trento Public Prosecutor’s Office opened a dossier with no crime report and Sara’s family, speaking on the television program “Who saw it?” denounced the humiliations and threats suffered by the doctor in the department of Gynecology and Obstetrics of Santa Chiara. Allegations later confirmed by several health professionals who work or have worked in the operational unit, whose testimonies were published in the press. At that point, a couple of weeks ago, the director general of the health company Pier Paolo Benetollo set up an ad hoc commission to deal with the case.

The commission of inquiry in the company

In these days the Trentino company commission is holding talks with the staff of the department, having temporarily retired the head physician Saverio Tateo. In the first instance, “the personnel deemed most directly involved in the facts under investigation and able to provide the most relevant information”, reported Segnana. Meanwhile, seventy midwives wrote to the medical director Antonio Ferro (obtaining positive feedback) to ask to be heard all, by appointment and no longer on a voluntary basis, as initially established. However, the family of the missing gynecologist expressed doubts about the effectiveness of an investigation conducted by the company itself, as did Professor Roberta Venturella of the University of Catanzaro, who followed Sara during her specialization. Last week, the teacher wrote a letter directly to the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza asking for his personal intervention, prompted with a question also by the Senator Donatella Conzatti from Trentino and by the Forlì deputy Marco Di Maio (both from Italia Viva), who they are also addressed to the Minister of Justice Marta Cartabia.

The intervention of the trade unions

In recent days, the trade unions Fp Cgil, Cisl Fp and Uil Fpl Sanità have also intervened on the matter, asking “the utmost clarity from the top management of the health company on what is being told, with fearful testimonies to the point of resorting to camouflage for fear of consequences, on the working climate that would have been determined in the Gynecology department during these years “during which there was a significant turnover of staff. Furthermore, “the Fenalt union (of the public sector, based in Trento, ed.) Requested an intervention by the Uopsal inspection unit (which deals with prevention and safety in the workplace, ed.) To verify what is happening regarding the protection of the psychophysical health of workers “said the head of the Fenalt Sanità union, Paolo Panebianco, who raised the same perplexities highlighted by Emanuela Pedri, Sara’s sister:” How is it possible to make a commission of inquiry composed only of those who have everything the interest of minimizing or covering up? How can the accused investigate himself? ‘ Words as harsh as those of the president of the Order of Doctors of Trento, Marco Ioppi: “The responsibility lies with a health company that has not carried out checks.”
