Sex, syphilis is on the rise. But we can prevent it

There are over 6 million cases of syphilis every year worldwide, and in the last decade the incidence of infection caused by the bacterium Treponema pallidum has reached increases of 150-300% in some countries. But relatively little is known about how the disease evolved and spread and about the epidemiology of ‘French disease’, as syphilis was once called in Italy, or Naples disease as the French called it.
