Shazam playlist: predictions for 2022

by admin

The numbers are these: over 1 billion songs identified every month. From this strength, Shazam discovers artists from every corner of the world before anyone else, using the curiosity of the listener to tell the future that awaits us. Each year brings a new array of stars that seem to dominate a specific space in the sound ecosystem, prompting audiences to discover songs they can’t do without.

Today Shazam unveils its playlist Shazam: predictions for 2022 and points out five artists who, according to Shazam’s “premonitory powers”, will make a bang in 2022. Based on Shazam’s incredible data and predictive algorithms, and personally selected by the global editorial team of Apple Music, the collection of 50 songs features songs that show the first signs of potential success. The playlist is an incredible and diverse international selection, with emerging artists from 25 countries representing 17 genres, from mandopop to local Mexican music, to the different forms of hip-hop.

Here are the 5 artists to watch based on Shazam’s predictions;

Ayra Starr

The rise that Ayra Starr has experienced this year is largely due to “Bloody Samaritan”, the trace that blew her up and that was first searched for on Shazam in Lagos. Released as the flagship single of 19 & Dangerous, the singer-songwriter’s debut album, the song took on a life of its own by dragging the listening into a bewitching violin melody cast towards a magnetic afropop spell. Undeniable success, in Nigeria “Bloody Samaritan” was the most Shazamed piece of the local scene in 2021: an impressive result for a song released only in July.

DannyLux

For those who love Eslabon Armado, a trio that has recently become a duo, DannyLux needs no introduction. The voice of the Californian rising star appears on the notes of “Jugaste y Sufrí”, the most sought after Mexican song of the year on Shazam. Released at the end of 2020, TikTok adopted it in 2021 and helped propel the Chicano singer-songwriter to unprecedented success. It is only a matter of time before the ears of an even wider audience are reached by the music of one of the leaders of the scene who is reinventing the corridor for a new generation.

Lyn Lapid

Launched by a song as “Producer Man” in 2020, Lyn Lapid is a regular of the viral hit who now returns to the center with “In My Mind”, a relaxed but passionate anthem for young people who find it difficult to express themselves. Becoming his most Shazamed song, the piece hit the charts in six countries, including Brazil, Indonesia and the United States. The stylistic change compared to the debut contributes to further highlight the many aces up the sleeve of the singer-songwriter, determined to drop them on the table of the new year at the first opportunity.

Sad Night Dynamite

Author of a hypnotic mix of electronics, hip-hop and britpop, the duo Sad Night Dynamite has a style that is as difficult to define as it is magnetic for the listener. If in February they ranged between genres in the debut mixtape of the same name, the real turning point came with the last single together with the South African musician Moonchild Sanelly: a menacing song with an industrial flavor, “Demon” earned a place in the soundtrack of FIFA 22 and gave the pair the biggest hit on Shazam, with a dizzying number of daily searches peaking soon after its release.

Stayc

In April, K-pop girl band STAYC released the sizzling bubblegum wave of “ASAP” into the air. Since then, the single has never left Shazam’s South Korean chart. Extracted from the second EP STAYDOM, the piece gave a decisive boost to the rise of the group, as they continue to hone Technicolor melodies and a spontaneous mastery of pop.
