GROSSETO – Silvia Ceretelli she is the new director of the complex operating unit of Immunohematology and Transfusion Medicine of the hospital of Grosseto (also responsible for the Amiatina area and that of the Metalliferous Hills).

The general manager of the ASL Toscana southeast Antonio D’Urso he assigned her the job today after a public selection.

“The company continues to consolidate its structure at every level – commented D’Urso -, keeping high attention in all fields. In this case, our commitment concerns an important aspect such as activities related to transfusion medicine which are of primary importance for a hospital. I am convinced that with Dr. Ceretelli we are in very good hands for her competence and experience “.

The new director, who will enter service on September 1st, arrives in Grosseto after a two-year experience, from 2019 to 2020, as director of Immunohematology and Transfusion Medicine Pisa and Livorno.

Previously she held the position of quality manager of the complex operating unit at the Livorno hospital where she mainly dealt with blood and blood components collection. Since 2005 he has structured a path for the donation of cord blood which is one of the main in Tuscany. A multidisciplinary activity planned with obstetrics and gynecology.

Also in Livorno, Dr. Ceretelli created the territorial section of Adisco (Association of Italian blood and umbilical cord donors). For years, through a project with the Ministry of Education, University and Research and as part of the “Health Education” project, it has carried out activities to raise awareness of donations among students, migrants and citizens. So much so that in September she was asked to carry out a FAD course as an expert in the programming of computer systems applied to booking and donation activities.

“I am very happy and enthusiastic to face this new challenge – she declared – and my first goals are to maintain and increase donations and improve the path of transfusion medicine. As a future perspective – concluded Dr. Ceretelli – I want to strengthen alternative transfusion medicine, that is, the use of blood components aimed at regenerative medicine ”.
