Six smart water bottles for the summer

Considering the temperatures of this period, it is essential to keep hydrated: it is a commitment not only to your health but, in the right way, also to the environment. For example, using a flask or a durable bottle saves tons of plastic waste. Then there are several applications such as Closca Water that works great, Waidy Wow o Drinking fountains to understand where and how to fill your bottle. And if the object is also smart and offers us additional functions to manage and control the water or other drinks we carry with us, then the heatwave can become less pressing. Here are some models to consider for each price range to put in your backpack or bag.

Puro Smart Display 500ML

Touch display on the cap, temperature control, ability to set sound alarms (to remind you to hydrate, especially with current temperatures), double layer of stainless steel, 12 hours guaranteed for hot drinks and 24 hours for cold ones. These are some of the features of the 500ml Puro Smart Display bottle. The battery status indicator is also on the display. The cap is IPX7 certified and the opening is fast with watertight seal. On the Puro website it can be customized with an inscription. Available in black and white, it costs 49.99 euros but is also cheaper.

Xiaomi Mijia Mini Insulation Cup

Small, essential, light (190 grams) with long-lasting and very thin insulation, just 0.08mm. Mijia Mini Thermos from Xiaomi has a capacity of 350 ml (but there is also a 500 ml version), is made of SUS 304 stainless steel and is equipped with a double-layer vacuum system with copper plating that blocks the conduction of temperature and the convection and delays the dissipation of heat in the cup. Available in four colors (black, pink, white and blue), it has an unbeatable price: it is around 14 euros.

Hydrate Spark

The bottles of the Hidrate brand connect via Bluetooth to a dedicated app that helps keep your hydration level under control throughout the day. A LED strip on the bottom of the bottle also indicates when it’s time to drink. The Steel version can keep the liquid fresh for up to 24 hours and the battery that powers the sensors and the connection must be recharged on average every 10-14 days. But be careful: if you are looking for a bottle that also works as a thermos in winter, this is not suitable, because it is designed only for cold drinks. There are different versions for size and finish, with prices starting from 80 euros. The capacities are two: 17oz (about half a liter) and 21oz (about 620ml).

Flintronic bottle

“Recommended by Amazon”, this bottle from the unknown Flintronic costs the right amount and does what it has to do, that is, to show the temperature of the liquid with a tap on the LED screen.
The product page offers moments of involuntary hilarity by describing how “the vacuum of cups and mugs can block heat transfer”, and explaining that the bottle maintains “liquid heat above 42 ° C for up to 6 hours and the liquid cooling below 10 ° C for up to 5 hours“. It is easy to overlook the obvious failures of the automatic translator when you consider that the half-liter version is cheap (17 euros) and different colors are available. If you need a bottle with a smart temperature gauge, this is a good choice.

GlaSSmart by Laica

It’s not really a water bottle but more of a table bottle. Maybe the table of the house by the sea. GlaSSmart by Laica – presented at the last Fuorisalone in Milan – is made of glass made in Italy: durable and recyclable, with a capacity of 1.1 liters, a synthesis of design, sustainability and above all Fast Disk instant filtering technology that nothing prevents it from being implemented on more “rugged” and leisure products. It is an innovative system, patented by Laica, which allows you to filter the water instantly, at the very moment it is poured into a glass or drunk. It does this thanks to the activated carbon technology that reduces chlorine and microplastics, improving the taste of water and keeping the mineral salts useful to the body. The use of this system, with a duration of 120 liters of filtered water per month, allows you to save up to 960 single-use plastic 1.5-liter water bottles in one year. Excellent price, just 29.90 euros. And nice glance in the establishment.

iHome, water bottle with Bluetooth speaker

The magnificent and progressive fortunes of technological convergence have not spared even the bluetooth speakers and water bottles, as this iHome musical flask demonstrates. The only reason we put it on our list, though, is to suggest you don’t buy it and to stay away from this kind of product. More than a purchase advice, in short, a notice to sailors. Retailers have positioned this bottle at 98 euros, an excessive price if you consider that by spending half you can buy a speaker and a smart flask of equal quality. Furthermore, the reviews on the Italian marketplace are all in English (which gives us some suspicions). Stay away.
