This will be the mechanism of action of the drugs of the future against tobacco addiction. And, since these molecules interfere with the gratification system (a complex network of brain areas also called the “pleasure circuit”), they could also be useful in the treatment of pathological addictions more generally, induced by the better known drugs such as cocaine and opiates.
