In December, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier revealed that Sony was about to combine its two subscription services, PS Now and PS Plus, into a new multi-tier service that would better face competition from Xbox Game Pass. Last week, we also reported on Sony’s new patent for backward compatibility and the news that Sony is asking retailers to remove the sale of Playstation Now gift cards.
Another piece of news from last week was rumors that Sony was expecting a big event soon. Even if it wasn’t Sherlock Holmes, there was a connection between the news. Now, we have more evidence of Sony’s plans, as several social media users (hereis one of the examples) have noticed that Playstation 3 games have suddenly started flooding the PS5 store, which wasn’t the case before because those games weren’t available on PS5.
Again, non-experts will know, which seems to indicate that older Playstation games will be supported, and will also be available through Sony’s new subscription server currently codenamed “Spartacus.”
With so many clues out there, let’s hope Sony can reveal the event soon, lest too many spoilers spoil the surprise.
