Solicit answers on the situation of the Sports Medicine Center. This is the purpose of the new letter that the Councilor for Sport of the Municipality of Cremona Luca Zanacchi, in the role of President of the City Sports Council, sent to the Directors of ATS Val Padana and ASST Cremona and, for appropriate information, to the councilors regional offices of our territory, as well as at the top of the Lombardy Regional Council. The text of the letter was shared with the representatives of the sports associations registered in the Assembly of the City Sports Council and with the Committee of the Council itself.
With this further letter, strongly urged by local sports realities, we want to sensitize health and political institutions on the importance of public service in a territory which, even from recent studies, appears to be one of those with the strongest sporting vocation at national level and the first in Lombardy.
Already last February the Councilor for Sport Luca Zanacchi had sent a letter in which he asked for clarification about the intentions of the health institutions on the subject. No response has been received since then. In the meantime, despite the still existing difficulties, sporting activities have resumed.
“Last February I wrote to the ATS Val Padana and ASST Cremona management but I never received a reply. I made myself available to meet the managers to solve the problem and guarantee the continuity of an essential service to the city and the territory. After the summer, the issue of health certifications became a priority and at the same time explosive. Sports medicine, in fact, has never reopened and the health aspects of all athletes of all levels have been completely delegated to the private offices of the city “, declares Councilor Luca Zanacchi who adds:” To date there is no service specialist public and the discomfort falls heavily on sports clubs, athletes and families who, to allow the continuity of sporting practice, are forced to turn to private individuals with high costs, long waiting times due to numerous requests and medical visits not always at the height of what over time has been a public service of excellence “.
“The Sports Medicine Center of Cremona – continues the Councilor – has always been able to contact all underage athletes, sent by the various clubs who over the years have always been able to take advantage of a highly specialized and completely free service. To date no answer has been given. The only private and accredited center in the city that could carry out reimbursement visits, as per the regional announcement, received an additional budget from the Lombardy Region to be able to provide answers for a limited period. The fate of an important public service for the sporting practice of Cremonese athletes and an indispensable medical center for health remains so obscure and undefined. Hence the strong concern for the future ”.
“It was thus decided to write again, this time together with the representatives of the city sports clubs registered in the Assembly of the Consulta dello Sport, about a hundred, as well as with the Committee of the Consulta itself which includes all the sports bodies of the city. The letter, in fact, is signed by the undersigned as President of the Consulta dello Sport. We think that Cremona deserves a Center for Sports Medicine, the sports history of our city tells it, the present requires it. The future of city sport, but not only, also passes through public health services at the height “, adds Councilor Zanacchi, who concludes:” This new letter to the top management of ATS Val Padana and ASST Cremona was written to ask for a calm but transparent confrontation to understand their intentions. We decided to share these concerns also with the President of the Region Attilio Fontana, the Regional Councilor for Welfare Letizia Moratti and with the Undersecretary with Delegation for Sport Antonio Rossi, in addition to the regional councilors of our territory. We remain confident and await a response. This time I think it is really necessary to respond, not to myself, but to the whole city sport ”.
