Sidereus Space Dynamics, Weroad, Aquaseek e Futurely (born as Orient me) are the four new startups entered today in the Italian Tech Startup Database launched last September 23 (here the explanation of the motivations and objectives). Here’s who they are and what they do.
Sidereus Space Dynamics is a startup developing a reusable single-stage orbital vehicle (SSTO) for entry and re-entry from orbit. It closed a 1.5 million euro investment round with Primo Space (Primo Venture fund) and CDP (Fondo Italia Venture II). The startup was founded in Naples in 2019 by Mattia Barbossa, Massimiliano Masciarelli and Luca Principi.
Weroad is a startup that sells long-haul adventure travel for Millennials. It closed a € 9.5 million investment round between equity, debt and convertible notes. Another 4 million was raised through an equity crowdfunding campaign with BacktoWork in partnership with Intesa SanPaolo. The startup was founded in 2017 in Milan by Paolo de Nadai, Fabio Bin and Erika De Santi. The company’s valuation has exceeded 30 million euros.
Aquaseek is a startup that has developed a system to extract water from the air. He closed a € 300,000 investment round with LIFTT and Eureka! Fund, Eureka technology transfer fund! Venture, with the aim of completing the development of the Minimum viable product, the minimum functional product (the prototype). The company was founded by Marco Simonetti and Vincenzo Gentile in 2019 after a research project developed within the Turin Polytechnic.
Futurely (formerly Orientami) is a startup that has developed an orientation and career coaching platform. It closed a $ 1.5 million (€ 1.2 million) investment round led by IAG and Angels4Women and other private investors including Diego Piacentini (Exor), Riccardo Zacconi (founder of King.com) and Fabio Mondini De Focatiis (founder of Cross Border Growth Capital). The company was founded in Milan in 2019 by Elisa Piscitelli and Mariapaola Testa and was incubated at Harvard.
