Strambino, in a hundred in front of Forensic Medicine for the driving license

Long queue on Monday morning. The director: «We have seen 150 users and with some complex cases. Our service has never stopped for Covid “

STRAMBINO

A bitter return from holidays, and above all uncomfortable and tiring, for the people who on the morning of Monday 23 August had to queue outside the building where the public service of the Forensic Medicine of Strambino is located. Around 10.30 we documented the presence of a hundred people (mostly interested in the medical examination for the renewal of the driving license) in line even under the sun (in the shaded area there was no more space) , waiting to be able to enter the building to be examined and receive the medical certificate necessary for the renewal of the driving license. «We have been here for over two hours – explained a young couple, still at the end of the line – and we are still very far from the entrance without knowing if and when we will be able to enter to visit. But, in front of us who arrived around 8.30, there are people who arrived earlier but who are also still outside queuing up ». But what happened?

The commission for the examination of special licenses, on Monday 23, took charge of 150 users, starting the session at 7.30 and ending three quarters of an hour after the scheduled end of the work. “On Monday morning – explains Giovanni Presta, director of forensic medicine Asl / To4 – we had complex cases in charge, which required more time”. Beyond the complexity of the case analysis, which may require an extremely in-depth examination of the documentation by the commission that does not end in a few minutes, it happens that the documentation itself submitted by users is not complete. «We always invite you to look on the ASL site – underlines Presta – to see what the necessary documentation is, download and fill in the forms. It happens, for example, that the payments have not been made and we therefore invite you to provide and return within the same morning ». In any case, people, since the beginning of the pandemic, have practically always stopped outside the building. The internal waiting room is very small and can accommodate a maximum of five users. «Our service for special licenses – underlines Presta – works at high intensity, has never closed, has no waiting lists and also provides services to many users of other ASLs, who choose the To4 for this very reason. In 2020, the year of Covid, we carried out 11 thousand visits for special driving licenses and 18 thousand for disability. Sometimes, like Monday, there can be some misunderstandings. The average waiting time was 45 minutes. Speaking of media, obviously, there are those who, by mid-morning, will have waited longer ».

In terms of services, those who had forgotten the payments, however, could not make use of the post office, a few tens of meters away as it was closed on Monday 23rd. In fact, in July and August it is only open a few days a week with queues when the service is active.
