Monster Hunter Rise debuts on Nintendo Switch in 2021 and launches on PC in 2022. Players take on the role of hunters, killing all kinds of creatures from small to incredible. As the game progresses, players can team up solo or online, defeating monsters and crafting items and weapons to fight even bigger foes.

The game was a huge hit upon release, becoming the second best-selling game in the series after Monster Hunter World.

In its first DLC expansion, Sunbreak is trying to make Rise’s world even bigger. Hunters embark on a new mission in the lands of Elgado, an outpost threatened by an ancient dragon named Marzeno. Players will be able to take on new difficulty levels in the form of master-level quests. New monsters, new characters and updated gameplay tweaks will be included in this exciting update – as new monsters appear, your hunters will gain new armor and become even more powerful. With such a big update, is the DLC free?

As the self-proclaimed “massive expansion” of Monster Hunter Rise, Sunbreak is sure to pay to play. The DLC itself starts at $40 and is available for pre-order and download at launch. You also need to have downloaded the base game to access the DLC. Players must also complete the “Razer Goddess” mission in the main game to begin the DLC campaign.

What’s more, there are a number of different ways to buy DLC.

Of course, players who already own Rise can purchase the DLC themselves through the Nintendo eShop. You can even buy the “Deluxe Edition” outright which contains different armor sets and cosmetic items. For new players, you can also buy the base game and Sunbreak for $70.

No matter which version of DLC you decide to get your hands on, Sunbreak will undoubtedly contain a lot of content that makes it worth checking out. The paid DLC expansion adds so much to an already massive game that it almost feels like a brand new title.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak will release on Nintendo Switch and PC on June 30.
