At the Xbox and Bethesda conference, the trailer for Diablo 4 was a surprise. Today, the Blizzard team continues to share the details of the game. In a recent interview, Game Director Joe Shely and Diablo Brand General Manager Rod Fergusson explored many aspects of Diablo IV.
Shely called the game “a love letter” to fans of the Diablo franchise.
In the interview, Shely stated that the concept of the dark atmosphere players saw in the trailer was the main driving force in the creation process of Diablo 4, and said that the development team was “really focused on building the concept of the return of darkness.”
In addition to discussing a lot of details about players’ character career choices, the game director also clarified some details about the main campaign of Diablo IV.
Shely said that the campaign of this game is about 35 hours long, and it is presented in a non-linear plot for players to choose. “Diablo 4” will be an open world design, players can join or leave the main storyline at any time as they wish. Moreover, the design of the campaign part also takes into account the preferences of many Diablo players.
Shely said: “Players can travel anywhere in the game world, decide what they want to do, and decide whether to move forward with the main campaign. The 35-hour experience of the game will be full of plot and willful characters, with which players can deeply interact with each other. Love. We put a lot of work into the campaign part of Diablo IV and are very happy with that part.”
“Diablo 4” is planned to be released in 2023, but no exact release date has been announced, and it will land on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
