Telegram launches Clubhouse-style voice chats

by admin

Telegram has introduced a new feature called Voice Chat 2.0 within its Android app. It is the possibility of opening and participating in audio conversations, just like it happens on Clubhouse, the social network of the moment.

Telegram’s audio chats, however, differ from the competition for a couple of unique elements: for example, participants can decide to remain “anonymous”, choosing to simply be listed among the listeners, without revealing their real name or nickname. In addition, room administrators can record all or part of the audio event, to repost it later. As on Clubhouse, as soon as you enter a room the microphone is turned off, with the opportunity to request the floor and, if granted, be listed among the speakers. Chats where audio is recorded are marked with a red light next to their title. To open a new room you must first create a public group and then to tap on the settings menu to start the voice chat.

The update on Android brings other small improvements, such as choosing the action that is taken with a swipe to the left and right, including archive, fix, mute, delete or mark a conversation as read. The update comes almost in conjunction with the public launch of Twitter Spaces, a Clubhouse-style project and yet another attempt by the microblog to exploit trends made famous elsewhere, such as posts in Fleet mode, which take up the Stories of Instagram. And soon also Facebook should implement some functions that are very reminiscent of Clubhouse.
