Ten conferences to watch for the European Cybersecurity Month

by admin

October is the European Cybersecurity Month. The initiative, wanted by the European Commission, also this year is full of appointments, with a novelty: for some of them it is back in attendance.

As usual, it is Clusti, the Italian Association of IT Security Experts, which keeps track of it on its website. So we decided to take the opportunity to report some, along with those held before and after Cybersecurity Month.

Apparently they are not very different from each other. All are oriented to offer information and create awareness to bring citizens and professionals closer to the issues of digital defense against cybercriminals and cyber gangs. Ransomware, Iot, State Actors, electronic voting, reliability of VPNs, Quantum Internet are just some of the topics. In some cases the cut is technical, which means having a solid IT background to be able to follow them, in others they are also suitable for newbies, a slang term to indicate newbies, the latest arrivals. But basically, as it says an old slogan, “in cybersecurity you are always a rookie”, so there is no need to be discouraged.

In this short list we have not considered the one or two hour webinars which are also useful, important and enjoyable to follow and we focused on the actual conferences, online, face-to-face or hybrid that will hold the spot in the coming months. Let’s say immediately that some have been moved to next year due to the uncertainties caused by the pandemic situation, such as Cybertech Europe which, scheduled for September in the Fuksas Cloud in Rome, has been moved to 10 and 11 May 2021.
